Hi, My name is Sarah and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, an Art Therapist, studio artist, and LPC supervisor. I bring my lifelong art background and skills, training in Art Therapy, counseling, drug and alcohol counseling, and psychology, years of experience working with adolescence and their families, many years of motherhood, and 20 years of sobriety into my role as a helper. I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, and adults, with varying levels of needs.

There are many modalities that I am trained in, but it is my commitment and priority to collaborate to find a best fit approach, ensuring we develop a cohesive relational space in which to work together toward your goals. I believe relationship has the power to create positive change and I welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you in that endeavor.
Reaching out for support can be challenging, but I encourage you to take that first step. I look forward to working together to achieve the outcomes you desire for yourself. You got this, and I believe in you. In the meantime, take care of yourself and those around you; take a moment to notice the spark inside you leading you forward.

I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I am a Registered Associate Counselor, license #R9203, and operate under the supervision of Carla McGhee, LPC-C5201. I specialized in Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma Recovery, Addiction, and mood disorders including Depression and Anxiety during my coursework. I took additional courses on Motivational Interviewing and Restoration Therapy during my Internship. I am currently enrolled in the Somatic Experiencing certification program. Previous to my Master’s I was a Somatic Re-Education Therapist, a bodywork technique that helps release trauma from the nervous system that is similar to Somatic Experiencing. From 2009 – 2016 I trained Mindfulness intensively under a spiritual teacher, which gave me many tools for creating a wholly new life experience.

I learned a long time ago that insight without kindness can do more harm than good. For that reason, I lean in with acceptance, safety, and unconditional positive regard for my clients. Whatever you are going through there is a way through, and we will figure it out together.

I also offer services at Thrive as a Somatic Intuitive, under the name Jewel Marin.
